CMS Ends its Enforcement Discretion Period for 5010 on June 30, 2012
As released by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today, CMS will end its enforcement discretion period for Version 5010 standards on June 30, 2012. This means that medical practices must be fully compliant with all of the upgraded transaction standards for ASC X12 Version 5010 (Version 5010) by this deadline.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Office of E-Health Standards and Services (OESS) says it will not initiate enforcement action against any non-compliant entities for an additional three (3) months, through June 30, 2012, for updated HIPAA transaction standards (ASC X12 Version 5010, NCPDP Versions D.0 and 3.0).
